The parent seeds came from plants that tested over 1,000,000 (1 million) SKU's. Be careful from whom you buy your seeds from. Many, if not most Bhut Jolokia Pepper seed producers, do not grow their peppers in total isolation. This will ALWAYS diminish the heat characteristics (SHU's) of the Bhut Jolokia Pepper. The Georgia Department of Agriculture found that these Bhut Jolokia Pepper seeds had a germination rate of 85%, the same as the Bhut Jolokia seed sold by the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. Some Jolokia seeds pods from India are not true to strain since there are so many kinds. Be careful with other seed companies. Some seed pods are also heat treated from foreign countries making seeds infertile outherwise they would need a seed import permit for each shipment. I planted and protected them from our storms, and with Florida's heat and humidity, I have had an excellent germination rate of 89% - 64 out of 72 seeds have germinated so far. About 1/2 of these seeds germinated in 2-3 weeks; the rest took a full 6 weeks, so I may have a few stragglers still to come. I have already moved about 25 plants up into 4" pots. You might also want to include a recommendation in your add to wear gloves while handling the SEED, too.
