These Bhut Jolokia Pepper seeds were grown in total isolation (no other pepper plants within 1 mile or more) to insure absolute genetic purity. They were grown in the Hottest summer in Georgia in over 100 years so they are a extreamly strong strain. Not greenhouse grown. The parent seeds came from plants that tested over 1,000,000 (1 million) SKU's. Be careful from whom you buy your seeds from. Many, if not most Bhut Jolokia Pepper seed producers, do not grow their peppers in total isolation. This will ALWAYS diminish the heat characteristics (SHU's) of the Bhut Jolokia Pepper. The Georgia Department of Agriculture found, on 10/12/2007 (see letter) that these Bhut Jolokia Pepper seeds had a germination rate of 85%, the same as the Bhut Jolokia seed sold by the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. Some Jolokia seeds pods from India are not true to strain since there are so many kinds. Be careful with other seed companies some seed pods are also heat treated from foreign countries making seeds unfertil outherwise they would need a seed import permit for each shipment.
